Buyers Guide

The sale helps local 4-H and FFA youth develop responsibility, leadership, and financial skills. Your support is an investment in the next generation

How It Works

All Champaign County Junior Fair Sales are premium sales, meaning buyers pay only what they bid. Example: If you bid $200 for an animal in the livestock auction, that is what you pay. Youth exhibitors retain their animals and sell them separately at market value. Exhibitors can only participate in two premium sales. Only exhibitors will go through the ring (no live animals).

There are several meaningful ways to support youth exhibitors at the Champaign County Junior Fair:

  • LIVE BIDS: Buyers can place a live bid during one of our premium sales, where the amount you bid goes directly to the exhibitor as a reward for their hard work.

  • MULTIPLE BUYERS: You can also team up with friends or colleagues by using a Multiple Buyer Form (available in the Sales Office) to split a bid, making participation more affordable for everyone.

  • ADD-ONS: If you’re unable to attend the sale in person, or simply want to offer additional support, consider submitting an Add-On, a flat-dollar contribution to one or more exhibitors. Add-Ons can be made on paper during the fair or online through our FairEntry system. Online Add-Ons will open August 8 after the conclusion of the General Livestock Sale, and remain open until Wednesday, August 13 at 12 pm.

  • BULK CONTRIBUTIONS: For those looking to give back more broadly, Bulk Add-Ons allow you to contribute a set amount to be evenly distributed among several youth.

Whether you're bidding, adding on, or sharing the experience with others, every dollar helps empower local youth and strengthens the future of agriculture in our community.

Billing and Payments

Payments are accepted by cash, check, or credit card (3% fee). Invoices are sent 7–10 days after the fair and are due by September 30.

Note: Late payments after January 1 will result in the loss of buying privileges. The terms of sale form a binding contract between buyers and sellers. Attendees participate at their own risk. The owners and sales managers are not liable for any accidents.
